Yes. And I too hate labels. They carry too much baggage and can readily be used to back you into a corner in a debate.
Herewith a few aphorisms:
1. Communism and capitalism ( left and right) are merely actors in a play. They meet in the dark at the back of the stage. (Author unknown)
2. Religion is the opiate of the masses. (Karl Marx). I could agree with that with the change of one word: Religion can be the opiate of the masses (and indeed has been so used throughout history up to the present day).
3. Capitalism is not evil, but there are lots of evil capitalists. (Author: F.S. Gue)
4. To be an MP you must learn to lie with a straight face. (Author: Former MP Erik Neilson, in This house is not my home.)
——– Original Message ——–Capitalism and Communism are but two tools used by the world’s owners to keep the masses confused and divided, with the zealous capitalism-lovers hating Communism and the zealous Communism-lovers hating Capitalism. Both extremes have some things with which I agree and some things with which I disagree. The same can be said for Democrats vs. Republicans, Conservatives vs. Whigs vs. Tories vs. Labour, Catholicism vs. Judaism vs. Buddhism vs. Zoroastrianism vs. animism vs. Wiccan vs. Episcopalianism vs. Shamanism vs. etc. etc. etc., Intelligent Design vs. Evolution, etc. etc. This is why I refuse to label myself. Tell me what issue you wish to discuss, I will look into it, and try to determine how I feel about it based on my life experience and belief system, both of which are constantly growing and evolving. E.g., the only thing wrong with Vulture Capitalism is the Vulturism part of it, which is based on an extremely anti-Golden Rule behavior. The only thing wrong with British Colonialism was the exploitation part of it, which was based on an extremely anti-Golden Rule behavior. The only thing wrong with how the USA is today raping, pillaging, enslaving, and murdering everywhere on earth is that this behavior is based on an extremely anti-Gold Rule concept.Bill Fairchild
